That Sounds Fun Podcast Episode 5: Jessica Turner

Okay, you guys? I just can’t even pretend like this isn’t my NEW FAVORITE THING EVER. I am having the very best time making podcasts. Like, seriously. Can you feel my excitement? But for real. Can you?

This week, we get to talk with my friend Jessica Turner. It’s a fun day for Jess because her book, The Fringe Hours, releases today! Jess and I have been friends for such a long time and I have loved watching the birth of this book.

Here’s an embarrassing story. So last week I went to Jessica’s house to record this podcast. We did it, it was soooo good and so fun. And then I got home and I had screwed up the recording. LIKE MAJORLY. Like you each out have fired me 100 times for what a terrible job I did recording the HOUR with Jessica.

I called an SOS to a recording friend and I went to his house and he tried to fix it and he was all, “Uhhh. Annie? You need to redo this.”

So can you believe I had to make Jessica do this again?

Yes. Being my friend is a bit of a nightmare.

But the end result is super super fun.

Well, THIS is fun :). As I was listening (multi-tasking, of course) it was like eavesdropping on you and Jess in the other room.

And I totally think you should do an episode on Boot Camp, because…you know…THAT sounds fun.

    Or not 😉 :).

Hey Annie! Thought I’d answer some of your questions from the podcast – I don’t use Twitter, & I’m not on FB or Insta right now, so this is the next best thing! So I think you had a few questions … my favorite American Girl doll was just about a tie between Felicity and Addie. One year for Christmas my sister & I both got American Girl dolls – she had asked for Josephina (which I always thought was funny since my sister is SO blond and doesn’t look anything like her) and … I got one that looked like me. But it was so cool because the doll came with her own blank book, & I could write her story!
I think you also asked what we’re reading right now. I’ve been working on the Left Behind series since around Christmas time. I read the first book and a half back in 7th grade when they were popular, but they were SO over my head! Now I’m on book 6 or 7 – can you believe I got all 12 on my Kindle for not even $25! CRAZY town! I’ve also just picked up Lara Casey’s “Make It Happen,” & once I’m done with that I’m totally jumping on the Bloom bandwagon & reading “The Fringe Hours” with everyone else. So looking forward to it!
Thanks for another fun podcast – always a blast listening in!

American Girl was my jam! I was a Samantha kid, and if I could have talked my parents into paying for a second one, it would have been Felicity (though Molly and I have the same birthday, so …)

My friends and I even had an American Girl club for a while – paid dues out of our allowances and everything! It only lasted about 2.5 meetings, but that’s irrelevant. 😉

This was a great inspiration, I help and keep helping a lot of people that I’ve put off all the things that I love and when I told some of the people I helped that I needed a break for a week to refresh myself and do the stuff that I love, it made some of them upset.

Just listened to this today….unfortunately AG dolls weren’t around when I was a kid. BUT my 7 and 9 year olds LOVE them. My neighbor and I have hit the sale in Middleton several times. Fortunately now it is ticketed in advance, so there’s no sleeping on the sidewalk. I also homeschool, and we use the old AG books in history. My 9 year old’s favorite book is Rebecca. My girls also love Kit Kittredge. The movie is great. Fun podcast. Thanks.
