That Sounds Fun Podcast January 2018 Rhythms: Sabbath + John Mark Comer

on January 12, 2018 in That Sounds Fun Podcast with 9 comments by

Another important rhythm I want to get my mind around even better in 2018 is the discipline of Sabbath and rest. And in my collection of friends, no one is more of a scholar and expert than John Mark Comer. His book Garden City really started me on a journey towards Sabbath. On this episode, John Mark answers some of your questions about Sabbath and seriously brings the heat and the wisdom about adding this rhythm to our lives.

Annie- Wednesday’s podcast was the best! So informative, perspective changing, convicting but not condemning. I loved every second & could have listened for another hour. I found you last year & cannot even begin to expalain how you & your faithfulness to God has impacted my life. Thank you for sharing for life, your journey, your struggles, your joys & what it means to be a daughter of God. Know that God is working through you & changing the world! Much love- Robin

Oh this was so so good Annie and John Mark. I haven’t heard much about the sabbath before. Thanks so much for just unpacking it and encouraging me in really finding sabbath! Hope to start trying for sabbath—rest and worship… 🙂

This is such a fantastic conversation! I’m glad I came across your blog. I too practice keeping the Sabbath, and even though I’ve been doing it all my life, there’s a lot to reflect on from this conversation. My relationship with the Sabbath has evolved since childhood, naturally, and I’m much more appreciative of it in adulthood. But still, there’s always something to mine from the discipline, as it changes throughout life’s seasons.

Have you read The Sabbath by Abraham Joshua Heschel? It’s my favorite book on the subject.
