That Sounds Fun Podcast Episode 39: SheReadsTruth + Romans

on May 25, 2017 in That Sounds Fun Podcast with 1 comment by

Y’all know I love bringing those SheReadsTruth gals onto the show whenever a new big study is releasing! I’ll be honest with you, I was skeptical about spending 6 weeks in Romans, but these people convinced me. So I’m in. Listen to our conversation and then I bet you’ll want to join me.

And this episode is extra double fun because:

a) they brought Russ Ramsey with them too!

b) they are offering a SPECIAL DISCOUNT CODE just for you guys!!

For starters, today and tomorrow (Thursday and Friday), all shipping on the site is freeeeee. So that’s a bueno bonus.

But. Just for us…..

Use the code ANNIE10 and get 10% off anything you order from the SheReadsTruth shop! They have family packs for the new Romans study, and lots of past studies that you could stock up for the fall or get as gifts, like the adorable SHE shirt.

So that’s cool. And I think you’re going to love what Russ and Amanda and Raechel have to say about the book of Romans, the author Paul, and Italian cheese. 🙂

That Sounds Fun Episode 38: Andrea Lucado

on May 18, 2017 in That Sounds Fun Podcast with no comments by

Dre and I have been great friends for what feels like a million years… probably closer to 7 or 8. As you will hear in this conversation, she and I jump right in and talk about all the things- funny and serious and important and absolutely not important. 🙂

If you have a single woman in your life, this may be a good episode to share with her. Because at one point, Dre and I definitely forgot we were recording and just went for it. So. Enjoy that. 🙂

Her new book English Lessons is absolutely one of my favorite reads of 2017. I’m gifting it to A LOT of friends this year and I bet you will too once you read it!

Y’all. This one. Such a special day. I’ve been a fan of Steven Curtis Chapman for YEARS- truly years. So to get to sit down with him for the podcast was incredibly special. His new book, Between Heaven and the Real World, is an amazing read about an equally amazing career, with many honest spots of vulnerability and pain.

Hope you enjoy this episode (sorry I cried) and grab a copy of his book for yourself!

That Sounds Fun Episode 36 : Danielle Walker

on May 4, 2017 in That Sounds Fun Podcast with no comments by

My whole life has changed since my way of eating changed in 2013. Diagnosed with PCOS and a dairy allergy, to be the healthiest version of Annie meant it was time to change alllll my ways. And Danielle Walker, author of the New York Times Bestelling Against All Grain cookbooks and hugely popular website, was a true gift from God that year of learning (still is!). Not only are her recipes insanely delicious (her dairy-free ranch made me tear up), she’s also an absolutely lovely human being and now one of my dearest friends. My bet is you know her, you follow her, and you love her (and her foods). But if by chance she is a new friend to you, I’m so glad to introduce y’all. 🙂  Against All Grain

That Sounds Fun Episode 35: Book Writing

on April 27, 2017 in That Sounds Fun Podcast with 2 comments by

We got so many emails from friends who want to write a book or think about writing a book and just don’t know how to start. Guess what? I DIDN’T EITHER. But now I do…. well, sorta. I know enough to try to help some of you writer friends not make the mistakes I did at the start.

While this is only one author’s opinion, I sure hope it is helpful to you!

That Sounds Fun Episode 34: Tsh Oxenreider

on April 20, 2017 in That Sounds Fun Podcast with no comments by

I really love Tsh. She has been a good friend to me for many years and a total mentor when it comes to being an author and internet-y person. She writes some of my favorite stuff, including her book Notes From A Blue Bike and the newest one (that just released this week!) called At Home In The World. When she told me they were taking their family around the world for a year, I didn’t think she was crazy. I thought, “sounds like something they will do really well.” And sure enough, they did.

Tsh and I talk about all sorts of life things (including enneagram DUH) and her family and her life and the year they will never forget. Hope you love this one!

That Sounds Fun Episode 33: Barnabas Piper

Barnabas Piper. Y’all are gonna love this guy. Smart. Funny. Loves Jesus. Doesn’t mind bossing me around. 🙂 Our kind of people.

Barnabas writes a lot- three books so far plus countless articles and many tweets that you will certainly enjoy- and his new book, The Curious Christian, is one of the best I’ve read this year. I totally loved having him on the podcast (you can see proof of our friendship and interview here on instagram) and I think you’ll enjoy our conversation and get hooked on his books and podcasts as well!

Man, it is always so extra special to me when my longtime friends join me on an episode of the podcast. That is the case today with Lisa-Jo Baker. Years and years of friendship are going to be the filter through which this podcast exists. 🙂 Lisa-Jo is an incredible friend, a mighty good author, and just an all around fun person to talk with.

Today we’re celebrating the release of her new book, Never Unfriended, and I think you are going to love all she has to say about it (and the book itself!)

That Sounds Fun Episode 31: John Mark Comer

Okay so this podcast is different than any other you’ve listened to from me so far— how come? Because every episode has been a friend of mine that I’m happy to introduce to you. Today? It’s a dude who I’ve been WANTING to be friends with! So, you will literally hear our friendship be born on the podcast. WHAT A DAY.

John Mark Comer is a pastor and teacher and author out of Portland, Oregon. His book Garden City is one of my lifetime favorites and his new one, God Has A Name, is a great read that is going to probably make you ask a lot of questions and start some great conversations.

Speaking of, I hope you think today’s talk with John Mark is a great conversation! Share it with your friends!

That Sounds Fun Episode 30: Adam Weber

on March 23, 2017 in That Sounds Fun Podcast with no comments by

Adam Weber is going to become one of those dudes you wish you could grab coffee with on a regular basis. You know why? Because he’s just an easy guy to like. He’s friendly, honest, and a great listener. He also loves God a lot and cares deeply that the people around Him know God for who He really is. The same with prayer- Adam really cares that we see prayer for the true thing that it is, a way to connect with God in a way that changes us and our situations.

Hope you love this episode. And be sure to share it with a friend who you know could use the encouragement to connect with God today. To hear our conversations, you can either subscribe and listen on iTunes, or feel free to listen on the player below!
