I love ornaments.

First, I have to tell you a story.

Last week, we had our small group snoozle. [I can’t wait to tell you about it next week.] And instead of exchanging gifts, we exchanged ornaments. Because my gals are building their personal ornament collections, I think it’s fun to exchange those- $5 limit. Me being annoying and funny, I bought a hideous One Direction ball.

We drew numbers, started opening ornaments and I began to realize that I was the only one who had purchased a joke ornament. THE ONLY ONE. The girls had found all these adorable ornaments and as each one was opened, the crowd would “ooooh!” and “ahhhh!” and I would sigh, knowing that I was the only idiot in gift buying.

Fast forward to the end of the ornament exchange and it is my turn and which one is still wrapped up and waiting to be chosen? Yep, the One Direction ball. Which now hangs on my tree because I didn’t have the heart to steal from one of the girls.

Lesson learned. And that lesson looks like a baby blue ball with five faces of teen boys whose names I truly don’t know.

In more beautiful ornament news, have you seen these from Lisa Leonard? I got three for my BFF Haley’s kids…

They are absolutely gorgeous and so detailed.

Haley’s daughter Carys loved them. Can you tell by her reserved smile? [Sarcasm. She is EXPRESSIVE.] Yeah, she kinda lives her life like that. She’s a favorite of mine.

What a super great gift for friends and kids that you love! So pop over to Lisa’s site before December 16th to get them in time for Christmas.

I’ve gone a little Christmas-happy this year. Maybe it’s the lack of moldy ornaments [RIP tons of ornaments in 2012] or the fact that I’m not traveling for a few weeks or there are just some life things going on that make me want to feel HOME. But whatever it is, a Christmas candle burns on the regular right now and the ornaments, yes even the One Direction ball, make me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Do you have a favorite ornament?
