What is 2014 for you?

NYE2013

2014 came in like a lamb.

Where in years past, we’ve dressed to the nines and danced until our feet were dirty and brown and exhausted, rolling home in the 1s or 2s after celebrating all night with friends, this year was different.

We ordered pizza.

We put together a puzzle of a New England fishing village in the 1800s.

At midnight, we hugged and cheered and cleaned up and were all home in our own beds by 12:45am.

We forgot the champagne toast.

It’s almost like we looked up from a normal night and said, “oh hey, 2014. When did you get here?”

Early in the night, from my corner of the puzzle, I saw these three squeezed together on the couch. And it made my heart explode. This picture epitomizes what I want my 2014 to be.

Calmer.

Quieter.

Intimate.

Sweet.

I love working hard. I love my job and the hustle that comes with it. I love people. I love being around people and connecting with new friends and old friends. I love to travel. I love Christianity and the church. I love Jesus and I love my family. I love my life.

But maybe what this picture tells me is that something I see here has been missing.

And in 2014, I’m going to find it.

I hear a rumbling across the internet about this- like 2014 is the year to talk less, do less, busy less, but LIVE MORE. Do you hear that too? Or is it just me?

I’m wondering about your 2014… how do you want it to feel?
