So here we go with Day 2 of New Book Week. Remember the rules:
Rule #1: I think my friends will like this book.
Rule #2: I have read most/all of this book.
Rule #3: I have a copy of the book myself.
Yesterday was Notes From A Blue Bike by Tsh Oxenreider, and today…..
She had me at England. You know how I feel about Great Britain (or if you don’t…. here.), so when an author writes about anything British, my heart jumps in with both feet.
If you’ve seen Angie on the Women of Faith tour, or seen her speak anywhere, then you know exactly what you are getting with this book. She is equal parts story-teller, encourager, and Bible teacher. And sarcastic humor. 🙂 And the topic she covers in Chasing God is one that so many of us can relate to- when our faith begins to feel like a heavy burden and we feel like we are lagging behind because we can’t catch up to God, He says to stop chasing Him in the first place.
And in this book, Angie tells us how she went from there to freedom. And it’s beautiful.
Watch the trailer below. It could just bring tears to your eyes. (Subscribers- there’s a video here, so click on over!)
This book was a slow read for me and I can’t really tell you why. But I loved it, it just took me some time to get through. I think maybe it’s such a deep topic that my brain couldn’t just read fifty pages at night as I was going to bed. It took more “work” than that- intentional time with a highlighter and my journal and Bible sitting close by. I thought this would be a non-fiction kind of read, but it ended up more like a Bible study.
Chasing God is a book I think you would love to read during Lent, when Jesus is the prize and all things seasonally point to Him.
